Clementoni Mechanics Racing Car - Construction Set, 20 Models

Description

This set belongs to Mechanics, the Clementoni line in which children build models out of loose parts instead of lifting them ready-made from the box. The packaging shows twenty models. The main one is a single-seater with open wheels and a front and rear wing; a kart and a buggy-like vehicle are among the others pictured.

The interesting part is what happens under the bodywork. The box lists rack-and-pinion steering, a gearbox with two speeds and a differential driving the rear wheels. These are not decoration: your child fits them itself and then sees what they do as soon as the car drives or turns.

Building it, taking it apart again and making something else is the whole point here. The same beams, gears, axles and wheels go in and out of the box twenty times over, and an illustrated manual walks your child through the steps. Clementoni makes the line in Italy and sells it here as Wetenschap & Spel.

The manufacturer states from 8 years. A present for a child who likes building and tinkering, and who would rather spend an afternoon on something than unwrap it in five minutes.
