Toy shopping basket with play food - 40-piece set

Description

A red plastic shopping basket with a handle, filled to the brim with pretend groceries. Inside are moulded pieces of fruit and vegetables - lemon, orange, apple, pear, strawberries, grapes, carrot, corn, broccoli and aubergine - along with a chicken drumstick. Then come the miniature packs: cartons of milk and blueberry juice, boxes of coffee, peas, profiteroles and dessert, a few tins and two squeeze bottles.

That is enough for playing shop: everything into the basket, pay at the till, unpack it again and put it away. It ends up in the play kitchen just as naturally, where the boxes and cartons serve an afternoon of cooking and waiting tables. Children pick up the names of fruit and vegetables along the way, and they enjoy sorting by colour or by kind.

Everything is plastic: toy-sized imitations, not foodstuffs. The basket is sturdy, easy to carry by the handle and big enough to hold the lot again once play is over. The set counts forty pieces, the basket included.

A welcome addition to a play kitchen that is already there, and enough on its own for hours of role play. A good present for a preschooler who likes coming along to do the shopping.
