Cutting vegetables play set - 9 toy vegetables, board and knife

Description

Inside the box is a tray with nine plastic vegetables, among them a corn cob, a carrot, an aubergine, a tomato, a mushroom and a head of cabbage, plus a yellow cutting board and a knife in the same toy finish. Each piece is made of two halves: you lay it on the board, run the knife across it and it opens; then you press it back together and it is ready again.

That one moment when the tomato falls in two is exactly what this is about. Children lay the table, make soup that is not there, take each other's orders and cut the same carrot fifty times over. It goes with a toy kitchen or a play shop, but a blanket on the floor works just as well.

The vegetables are moulded in bright colours and sit behind a window in a shaped tray, so the box half unpacks itself. The range is called Fruit Cut; this packaging carries no printed age marking.

A classic present for a child just starting on role play, and a set you can top up later with the cutting fruit from the same range.
