Playgo hairdresser case - 11-piece pretend play set

A hair salon in a case. The clear pink case has a handle and two clip catches, and inside eleven parts sit in their places, among them a hairdryer, a curling tong, a straightener, a brush, a comb, a hand mirror, a spray bottle and two curlers.

This is pretend play, not real hairdressing equipment. The parts look like the genuine article, but they do not style hair; the child copies what it has seen at the hairdresser or at home. The hairdryer runs on batteries (not supplied) and makes a sound as it does, which for small children makes the game a good deal more convincing.

The packaging sums it up as 'braid, curl or straighten' and suggests trying it on 'your family and toy friends': a doll, a brother or sister, or whoever will sit still for it. Playgo lists it as item 6007 and puts 3+ on the card.

Because everything goes back in its own place and the case has a handle, this is also a set that travels easily to grandma's or to a friend's house. A gift for a child of about three and up who likes copying what grown-ups do.
