Hinkler Mindbogglers Kata Tjuta puzzle - 1000 pieces

Description

Kata Tjuta is the group of red-brown rock domes that together with Uluru makes up the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. In this photograph they lie under a sky full of stacked cloud, with the red earth and the low scrub of the outback in front of them. Hinkler released the image as a jigsaw puzzle of 1000 pieces in the Mindbogglers range.

What makes this puzzle demanding is exactly what makes it beautiful. The domes and the horizon go down quickly, but the plain in front of them consists of hundreds of shrubs in almost the same colour, and in the sky white and blue run slowly into one another. That is where you start working by shape, and by the slow shift from red sand to green.

The 1000 pieces come in a box of 35 x 22.5 x 4.5 cm. Count on a few sittings: this is one to start with a cup of coffee beside you and pick up again later in the evening.
