The Deluxe Kitchenette play kitchen - 25 pieces, oven opens

Description

This play kitchen stands on four legs and has a red and white canopy above the worktop. Below it are a hob with control knobs, an oven with a window and two open side compartments where the crockery and the packets get a place of their own.

The box says 25 Pcs: those are the accessories that come with it. A pot with a lid, a pan, plates, cutlery, a spatula, bottles and a run of plastic play food. The box itself names a steak, orange juice and a pizza among them.

The oven door opens and closes, so a child can slide something in and take it out again. That small gesture is exactly what keeps pretend play in a kitchen going: setting up, cooking, serving, clearing away and starting over.

A play kitchen grows with a child. At first it is about putting everything in its place, later about thinking up a whole menu for whoever is in the house. That makes it a present with more than one season of play in it.
